I'll have to be brief; with orientation there's always a lot going on!
Thursday was the first day of college move-in (and I'm here right now, at college) and it's been very busy. There's been lots of lectures, talks, events, and activities, and zillions of names. But I always enjoy meeting people, even if its about the fifth time we've introduced ourselves.
Well, I just got back from Mass (which is very interesting to attend after being used to the order of an Orthodox Liturgy), brunch is about to happen and then we'll load up to go to Sandy Lake for the day (probably so the upper classmen can get moved in in peace; the dorms just opened for them.)
Last night the orientation schedule called for a trip to either the mall or a baseball game; so at the baseball game, we were all watching and talking (with another Jare- I mean- Jarred) and got into a really interesting conversation about the goodness of God, and whether or not he makes "choices." After discussing this (from innings 4 through 9), we concluded that He does not. I have not an ounce of enough time to delve into that right now, but all comments are welcome (and I promise to try to read/respond if I get a chance).
But anyhow, hope yall are all doing well; I'm headed out right now, (It's what, 10:30? I suppose y'all just finished the Gospel reading and are now at the homily, approximately) and I hope to talk to you soon!
So now the video is up but I just wanted to say you might want to turn it up a bit to be able to hear both announcers.
what a waste of a post....
Well *cough cough* that didn't quite work....let me try again...
Well the Olympics are on...again. Cool. So we were watching them. They were cool. George bush was cooler. He was bored. Anyway in the spirit of things we made an Olympics video. so..... I guess you want to see it....actually probably not. but ummm....here it is anyway....
Ok, I'll try to make this continuation of my previous post nice and short. So.......................
Jared and Jordan got my one huge nicely balanced awesomely black throwing knife.
So I went outside and threw it at things.
it sticks in things.
lots of things.
most things.
staircase.
end.
Okay. This past Saturday, after watching a lot of the Olympics, we were talking about how funny it would be if certain events were switched around, changed, combined (namely we thought about a combination of gymnastics, diving, boxing, and swimming, all together, but that's besides the point) etc. So then we started talking about a spoof Olympics with weird and random events, which led to talking about our making a video of said topic.
The next day, Sunday, after Liturgy, we shot our video, and edited the material. Maybe we're impulsive. . .
Monday, we edited the sound, including dubs.
All day yesterday, we tried to upload it to Youtube; no dice. It wouldn't work. But, then we let it try overnight, and this morning, viola!! Up and running.
As usual, I can't stand my role in it, but oh well; a side effect of being in a spoof is an inevitable loss of dignity.
Soooooo, here it is, in all its goofy and random glory!
As you can see, I'm trying to redeem the pictures section after those. . . food. . . pictures.
So anyways. First, Calvin & Hobbes!
And next, another penguin picture:And a boring math proof of the Pythagorean theorem:
And to finish, of course, :
Speaking of which, who all got a chance to see the meteor shower last night? I went outside twice, but I ended up only seeing one reeeeally good one. (blazed across the sky a half-inch north of Deneb) :)
How were you punished as a child?
My dad would raise one eyebrow. . . *shivers*
Incidentally, this is also how he gets the lid off of stubborn jars. If he's struggling with it, he'll just step back, look at it, raise one eyebrow, and *pop*
