Technology QotW: Rising Gas Prices
Which small businesses are hurt most by rising gas prices? What can they do to save money?
Sponsored by HP.Probably all businesses are being hurt by rising gas prices. I was going to say except Internet Businesses, but most of them ship products via fuel consuming vehicles. Fuel-saving businesses like those that are developing solar, wind, and battery technology are probably prospering, which alludes to the answer to the second question.

Solar and wind are hurting also, even though they should be prospering, because of US government actions. For example, a huge number of new solar installations have just been halted indefinitely, as the government required that they complete exhaustive environmental impact statements and that the government approve the results prior to any new installation on any land within most of the western US, effectively denying solar companies any chance to operate within the US for the next several years. A paltry few congressmen have vowed to fight the ruling, but the real question is... why did they do that? Europe and especially China are pushing solar as hard and fast as they can. On the wind front, the government is rushing new rules in to stop that activity as well. Why... hmmmm. At least T. Boone Pickens is throwing his considerable weight into the fight, and is starting a grass roots movement called "The Plan" to try to get millions of people to tell the government to stop it or they'll be voted out. Meanwhile, Pickens retains a considerable investment in oil just in case he can't win this fight.
