Which does not include all the dyes and stacks of egg cartons on the kitchen counter.
We heat the calligraphy stylus in the candle flame, then lay it on a cube of beeswax which melts and becomes our "ink" to cover the design in the desired color.
After the last coat of dye, which is the darkest coat, the wax is removed to reveal the other colors and the design of the egg.

Our Church has two major sales every year, the Christmas bake sale, and the spring Pysanki sale. I usually can't get in the mood to make Pysanki until after Christmas so yesterday was the day. As soon as I started getting out all our stuff and the books I got energized. The kids and I have a goal of making one a day until the sale, which would be about 330 eggs total, around 27 dozen. The Church goal is 90 dozen! Our sales draw a lot of people from the community. I pray that a little seed will be planted and grow as they encounter the House of the Lord.
